Abstract

In recent years, with the rapid development of the automotive industry toward intelligence, connectivity, and electrification, automotive chips, as the core carriers for implementing related functions, have seen continuously rising computing power demands, while architecture openness and autonomous controllability have also gained increasing attention. Against this backdrop, RISC-V technology, based on an open instruction set architecture, offers a new development path for the automotive chip industry through its modularity, extensibility, and autonomous controllability. However, when entering the automotive field with stringent functional safety requirements, the RISC-V architecture still faces multiple challenges, including incomplete standards, a weak ecosystem, and insufficient safety and reliability verification. This paper elaborates on the development background and research significance of automotive chip architectures, analyzes the advantages of traditional chip architectures versus the RISC-V architecture, the current application status of RISC-V, and the challenges it faces. Focusing on standards, it analyzes deficiencies in the current standard system, points out the importance and urgency of unified RISC-V standards for automotive deployment, and provides reference guidance for the large-scale, standardized application of RISC-V architecture in the automotive field.
